I have got my laptop for almost three months already. The model that I have got is not really what I want then but its price was the best to fit my budget. There were no better options then and it is so frustrating to learn that when you go around the mall today, you can find so many great laptop deals. I wish I have waited a couple more months.

On my way to visit my friend who’s confined at the National Kidney and Transplant institute (NKTI),I showed my ID to the lobby guard to get a pass to the hospital. I was amused that he just placed my ID on a stand and handed it back to me after a few seconds. I can’t help my curiosity so I asked what he did and he showed me the computer screen displaying the scanned copy of my ID. So what he has on his post was what seemed to be a barcode scanner . Genius!

My webhost sent me an e-mail informing me that I need to do some online backup as they are having system upgrade and I might lose some posts.
Although there were instructions on how to do such, I really find it tedious and mind boggling but I had to do it because I do not want to be on the losing end.

I just got a forwarded e-mail from a friend about a building in China that was uprooted and feel like a log. The materials used in rising the building were heavy duty steel but unfortunately it was built on a hollow foundation.
Luckily that it was one of the steel buildings that is why it did not crumble and fell in one piece. No one was killed or hurt.

There are so many reasons for having halitosis or bad breath. It may be acute or chronic and most of the causes are poor dental hygiene, tooth or gum disease, or intestinal disorders.
Either cause, I think it is hard for someone to know that his or her breath stinks especially if the disease is chronic. For the reason that he or she is already used to his smell, which is like a body odor.
While it is curable, the dilemma lies on how to break the news to the person concerned especially if that person is our friend. Simply because we do not want to hurt his or her feelings.
I have a groupmate whose breath would really make your stomach turn and this observation I chose to keep to myself because it is a sensitive personal issue. I was just surprised to hear from my other groupmates while we were having our late lunch that they’ve been thinking of a tactful way in telling our groupmate that he has breath issue.
So while we save someone else’s life, how could we save our groupmate from further humiliation without making him feel humiliated?

Being on hospital duty and being sick for quite some time now, the need for life insurance leads is very palpable. The reality in sky high cost of checkups and medications is pulsating. I always here from the patients that in these times, it is forbidden to get sick. The healthcare issue here in the Philippines has never gotten any serious attention that is why people are clinging to health insurance and to those who do not have any just rely on the social service.

Our balikbayan visitors have just left. They have enjoyed their stay in the house as much as their vacation in Bohol. They tried to hold back their tears as we bade goodbye to each other.
Tito Bong might be back in September to finish some transactions while his son Ian will be back December next year. He wants to experience New Year in the country as he was born and raised in the US.
He invited us to visit them there and introduced us to some south beach luxury hotels which I am saving money for.
Getting there is one thing, staying there is another.

I am trying to ward off the idea that I am jinx because in the past two weeks, My partner, Mark and I have joined the code team in resusciating two patients. This evening, we again have had a patient who coded. He was just tranferred from the ICU. This time though, we were not able to be in the code team as those who brought him from the ICU were the ones who performed the CPR.
Actually, I did not knot that there was a code that was called since we’ve got a handful of patients that evening.
It was three in a row. I hope it will not be a sweep this week.

I just had my ophtha consult and the exam result was interpreted as me having a mild glaucoma. It is not curable so the doctor told me that we need to monitor it. He kept the exam results.
According to stlukeseye.com:

Glaucoma is a disease caused by increased intraocular pressure (IOP) resulting either from a malformation or malfunction of the eye’s drainage structures. Left untreated, an elevated IOP causes irreversible damage the optic nerve and retinal fibers resulting in a progressive, permanent loss of vision. However, early detection and treatment can slow, or even halt the progression of the disease

I asked me if lack of sleep affected the exam, he said it can have.
My IOP was normal.
I also raised my observation that ever since I had my eye checked by a glaring light last week, my left eye’s vision became webby. He just shrugged off the idea telling me that the blurred vision effect will only last for a day. He did not do further assessment.
I also got my pair of glasses as the error in refraction of my right eye has increased.
I was planning to go for thoric contact lenses maybe next month. I seriously need to wear them because I could hardly read with my bare eyes.
The doctor asked me to see him after six months.
I will see him maybe next week. I will just get my exam result and I will have an optha consul with another doctor.
I do not feel good vibes with that doctor and with the hospital.
I would rather travel far than to have a substandard healthcare service.

In September, we shall be having our case presentation to end our 3-month basic skills training program. I am excited and that the same time sad because this is the end for the Lung Center experience and me. I am not going to be emotional here to I would focus on what will happen in September. It will be a soiree so we are expected to be in our best night gowns while the men are asked to be in their tuxedo jackets which I think will be awesome.
