I am so thankful that Olivia, my former teammate who now works in Singapore, offered her service of being our tour guide during our stay in the Lion City.
I noticed that her face is a bit round and she gained a few pounds but I kept mum about it. Until she opened up to me about her health condition.
She is on low dose amount of steroids and has undergone radiactive therapy to cure her hyperthyroidism. Radiactive iodine therapy is administered orally as a single dose, in capsule or liquid form.

Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland makes too much thyroid hormone. The condition is often referred to as an “overactive thyroid.”

The thyroid gland produces the thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) hormones which control the metabolism.

The most commond type of hyperthyroidism is enlarged neck or goiter which according to her has affected ther self esteem. By the looks of it, she responded well to the radioactive iodine therapy because her neck appears to be normal.
She is now on streroids to suppress the autoimmune activity of the Graves Disease that caused her diffusely enlarged thyroid. As she is responding well, roids is now being tapered. She is also on antithyroid drugs which will also be tritrated when she reaches remission.
I pray that she will continue to recover so we could go on with our lives and enjoy the things that we love, travelling.
