I learned from my new friend that he’ll be staying in Manila for 2 weeks before flying off to Europe for a business trip. He asked me for some good hotels that he could check in and I was thinking of hotels in cancun I did not suggest anything actually. I am such a louse friend. Also, I learned from him that he went out on pass the hospital the other day to rent a condominium for his stay in Manila. He was accompanied by one of our nurse volunteers. He told me that he requested my headnurse to accompany him to his day out but ofcourse for security reasons, my heardnurse declined. I was really surprised to hear him say that he preferred me to assist him in paying for his rent and doing his bank transactions.

For some reason, a 52 year-old Japanese-American patient who has undergone coronary artery bypass graft (CBAG) kept on requesting for me to be his bedside her. He is about to be discharged on Monday but he said that he wanted me to be his bedside nurse just before he leaves. He is nice, took his PhD at the Harvard University. A well-travelled man.
It is his first time in the Philippines, He was in Palawan scuba diving when he experienced sudden chest pain and the rest was history.
He said, he could not forget me because I was his charge nurse when he experienced chest pain. That night his IV went out so I had to reinsert and IV. It took me 2 attempts but both were failure. I asked the other charge nurse to make another attempt but she also failed. We SMSed the cardio fellow who successfully got the needle in.
He is also diabetic and has a standing order of CBG (capillary blood glucose) before breakfast. So I had to prick him and it appeared that he has low tolerance for pain. His blood sugar was high and based on the sliding scale, I had to inject insulin. That completed his painful night/morning with me and yet he considers me as his favorite nurse.
