Our desktop computer has finally been repaired. Thanks to the handy manny brother-in-law of my sister. After some tweaking, its life has been revived. He just advised us to purchase RZR XP Accessories that will protect our computer and boost its performance. It is really hard when you do not know anything about computers. Good thing there is one techy relative that is always ready to lend a hand.

Miley Cyrus will be in town in June for her world tour. Hoping that Miley would pull a Hanna Montana stunt, my niece was begging me to watch the concert on me! I have all things sorted out and my budget would only allow me to buy tickets to the general admission section. This means that our view would only be as good as looking at the ants on bird’s eye view. I told her that we need to bring our steiner binoculars to get a decent view of the pop superstar.

On June 14th, I will be celebrating my one year and six months of being a cardiac center nurse and I have never been proud of this accomplishment. As I take my career one step higher, I would like to reward myself a very useful instrument in handling my patients. I am aiming to get myself a Littmann Master Cardiology stethoscope. Most of the cardiologists in my institution encourage us nurses to invest in good stethoscope and I really believe them. It is one most powerful weapon that we use in our daily battles.
I browsed through the web and found out some details about this most sought-after instrument. According to allheart.com:

The 3M Littmann Master Cardiology Stethoscope is the ultimate acoustical stethoscope. Patented single-sided chestpiece with tunable diaphragm lets you monitor both high and low frequencies without having to turn over the chestpiece. Features a handcrafted, solid stainless steel chestpiece, two-tubes-in-one design, lightweight comfort headset, special procedures adapter for difficult site and pediatric auscultation, non-chill rim, double-leaf binaural spring, and patented 3M Littmann snap-tight, soft-sealing eartips. Provides the best acoustics Littmann stethoscopes offer, with a significant improvement in low-frequency response.

It also has a seven-year warranty. To top it all off, I could have my name and initials engraved on the bell and on the tubing. I am really working hard for it. I hope that I could get them in two month’s time.

I have skipped so many summer outings for the past couple of years. Simply because, I feel , and actually I have gained weight. I cannot fit into any of my swim suits and it is really disappointing. I have started to eat right and I cut down on chugging down sodas and the pounds that I have shed were not enough to look good in my bathing suit. I really applaud those who really worked hard to get their ripped body. They seem to get the oxyelite pro results by having their personal trainers and chefs that custom fit their work out and diet regimens.

During my very rare idle time in the hospital, I got to maximize our internet time browsing Yahoo Health and I came across the information about coffee being proven to be a healthy bean.
In that Yahoo article, it said that study showed that coffee whether in its pure caffeinated glory or devoid of its caffeine, plays a very important role in preventing the occurrence of breast cancer.
Being a coffee addict, I rejoiced! At least I would not be having so much guilt while having a fix of caffeine at least every morning. But wait there is more, The NBC Nightly News featured that Harvard School of Public Health, confirmed that coffee, whether decaf or caffeinated, lowered the incidence by 60% among their subjects the risk for developing prostate cancer.
In March 1981, the office released a study stating that drinking coffee puts a person at developing pancreatic cancer but they have taken it back stating in their official statement that the latest discovery has been proven to be more reliable.
Cheers to the caffeine fix!

One thing I enjoy about summer is that I have the leisure of spending good times with my nieces. Aside from swimming in inflatable pool, we enjoy playing in fire pits. Scary as they may sound but they are really safe. We are having a blast goofing around or just being lazy lying in our bed watching the glow in the dark star on our ceiling and the wall.

When I was still a small kid, I was always amazed by the gadget being used by the cashiers at the payment counters. I thought it was futuristic seeing them point their gun-like tools at the items being purchased and presto, the price flashed on the counter register. It was just later on in my life that realized that those gadgets are called barcode scanners and they are now very useful not just in buying commodities but also in paying my utility bills.

At this point in time, I have come to some serious thinking about my chose career. It has been almost two years since I turned my back on my call center career. I was hoping that I could get myself a job in the field of nursing abroad but I think luck is not at my side. While waiting for the right moment to arrive, I am thinking of getting in to post graduate school. I am eyeing on management jobs whether here or abroad. At least, when the right moment has arrived, I am all set to take on higher responsibilities.

We were at a Sony store in Megamall the other day. My friend has talked me into buying the Sony Walkman W252. I have been dreaming of it ever since. While waiting for our order, we sat down infront of a huge LCD TV and I told my friend that when I land a job abroad, i’ll be getting one. I am just worried that since I have toddler and pre-schooler nieces, they would just break it into pieces. I did not know that he salesman was listening to our conversation and he immediately suggested to purchase tv mounts that will ensure that the pricey thing will be mounted high enough not to be used as drawing board by my cute nieces.

There are some weird things that you will come across with, one way or another. As I watch Today Weekend, I have learned something about a health condition called prosopagnosia or simply the face blindness which is the inability to recognize faces even if they have encountered those persons a number of times. The persons include their family members, friends or even themselves. It is not categorized though as memory impairment problem.
There are two types of prosopagnosia:
Developmental prosopagnosia is one that is present since childhood. A child does not recognize faces as well as other people do. On the other hand, acquired prosopagnosia may occur after brain damage from head injury, stroke, or neurodegenerative diseases. Individuals with this type had normal face recognition abilities in the past, but this has been impaired or lost due to brain injury. (source: raredisease.about.com)
Right now, there is no cure for this rare disease. Like the woman suffering from this disorder that I saw on Today Weekend, she learned other ways of remembering people around her particularly her kids. She remembers the clothes they wear for that day. That way, she will have an aide in knowing who her kids are when she picks them up from school. Other clues are hair, gait and voice.
