I can’t believe that time flew so fast. It is now 2012 and with a new year stepping in comes the so-called new year’s resolution. The year might have hyped up a notch but there is nothing more to it. Same income, same expenses. Since, I have mentioned about resolutions, I am trying to instil in my life the importance of saving up and saying no to unnecessary purchases. Recycling and reusing stuff will be the new “brand new”. I will consider every step towards keeping my bank account unthreatened even going for rv repairs will be a part of my life.

This is good. My friend has just got her US Visa approved and she is off to Florida just before summer bids goodbye. She will stay with her folks there who are into laid back lifestyle. She is eager to try fishing with them and before she left the country, I volunteered to help her find the best florida fishing guide. I hope she catches some good trout and make a sumptuous meal out of it.

What I really like about the sprucing being made in our staff lounge are the new fixtures. I particularly love the hummer h1 custom floor mats that are really out of this world. I mean they are so beautiful that I am having second thoughts of wiping my shoes on them before I chill on the Italian leather sofa. This is the life of the rich and famous….oh well, almost.

In line with the compliance to Accreditation Canada International, the management also need to provide for their hospital staff a lounge. So, our management has decided to convert our morgue-like pantry into a room with homey atmosphere. They commissioned an interior designer that will put our dream into reality. They started to put in sofa, a dining table and they have changed the wash tub into a single bowl undermount sink. It is lovely!

The institution I belong to is doing some sprucing in some of its wards. They have somewhat incorporated a doctor-patient discussion room that gives a homey atmosphere. They have place lovely pieces of log furniture that I find very relaxing. They have come up with this idea so that when discussion about a patient’s condition requires discussion with the family members, they could find confidentiality especially in the semi-private rooms.

Celebrating what is left of 2010 with what is left of my free sked, I tried to stay up and wait for the clock to strike 12 midnight.
Despite the government’s attempt to persuade the people not to use firecrackers to welcome the new year, it appeared that nobody, at least in our place, seemed to care.
People started to light firecrackers right before the sun set on the 31st. Smoke coming from the firecrackers are starting to build up and to eliminate them in our home, we just used ceiling fans and just helped ourselves with hot coco to fight the chills.

I got a text so early in the morning from my co-staff nurse. It’s her dad’s birthday and was asking for the chicken recipe that we had at Toastbox. It was chicken rice I told her. She also asked for a gift suggestion for her dad. I just tol her that her to buy a home brew kit gift for dad which is available at the mall.

The setup in the dorm is getting better and better. First, they have renovated the hallway lights and ceiling then the bathrooms and now the reception hall.  The building was built some 35 years ago and it is about high time to make some renovations. The reception hall was pumped up  a bit with the placement of modern sofas.  I am really getting the hang of hanging out in the uber cool dorm.

The dorm has been undergoing section-by-section renovation. The ceiling on the hallway and the light fixtures are now presentable and they engineering team has started on renovating the other side’s bathroom. My confusion about the renovation of each room has been addressed when I asked one of the engineers how to go about it. He just said that we should request for that at the administrator’s office and they will allocate a day to finish all the repairs including the replacement of the blinds. I am really excited about it and I am willing to volunteer to stay in the room just to the repairs done.

Along with the literal drum rolling, I have come to learn that the people bringing in the steel drums are also the water filter supplier water filter supplier. While on our way home, my co-staff Chris has asked me why I am not staying at the dorm. I just told him that I am not really comfortable staying there plus the fact that there is constant hammering and screw bolting here and there. Sleep is the most luxurious activity for me and I am trying to savor every minute when I have the opportunity to shut my eyes.
